		Sidney educated himself with scholarships to Clifton College and Christ Church Oxford, where he achieved a double first in Greats. He became sub organist of Oxford Cathedral. He spent most of his holidays at Nailsworth and hired a piano which was put in the Baptist School building at Shortwood. It was not long ago that people recollected hearing the sound of him playing.
